Bee Buzz
Fresh honey has been harvested!
In early June, we pulled the boxes of frames that were ready with capped honey and spun out about 130 pounds in total. The honey pantry is now stocked with pint and quart jars of TWO VARIETIES — Spring Flow and July Wildchild. The combination of good flying weather for the bees and no major spring storms to knock the Locust tree blossoms allowed for the bees to collect copious amounts of nectar. Just as the Locust trees were trailing off, the bees began collecting lots of bramble nectar (blackberry, raspberry, wildflowers, etc.), so we were already able to pull honey that we do not typically get until mid-July.
